8th Regiment, Infantry, Company F, Camp Dewey, Fall Field Day, South Framingham, 1897. The exercises are taking place in a large field, except for the last photo which is a group portrait of soldiers surrounded by tents. Inscribed caption on both sides: "8th Regt. M.V.M. Fall Field Day - So. Framingham, 1897 or earlier." Eight photos, 9 x 12 cm, mounted four on each side of cardboard 26 x 29 cm. 1. Marching band of 8th Regiment, Infantry, Company F. They are in uniform, playing instruments and marching toward the right. Inscribed caption: "8th Regt. Band." 2. Company F, in dress uniform, standing for review by two officers mounted on horseback. Inscribed caption: "Training Maneuvers." 3. Two officers in uniform, the one in the foreground mounted on a bay or chestnut horse, the one obscured behind him on a white horse. They are not identified. The horses are facing right; other horses and Company F in the background. He also appears in photo 6. 4. An officer in uniform on a dark horse, soldiers and tents in the background. He is not identified. The horse is facing left. 5. Vignetted photograph of Company F troops in dress uniform, in front of tents. 6. An officer in uniform mounted on a bay or chestnut horse. He is not identified. The horse is facing right; tents in the background. He also appears in photo 3. 7. Company F in dress uniform marching in formation toward the right. 8. Eleven soldiers, six standing and five seated on the ground. They are in uniform with hats. Tents on both sides. They are not identified. |
