Description |
Annie Russell Train Hale [Mrs. James A. Hale] with a group at Tip Top House, excursion to Mount Washington, New Hampshire. Six women and six men are next to the Tip Top House, a rough stone structure on the left. Two women are in the foreground, the one on the left sitting on a rock, Annie R. Train Hale on the right standing. The man on her right is Henry T. Beckwith of Providence, Rhode Island. The young woman with a hat, sitting, is Lizzie Train ("Mrs. Ed. George"). The woman on the left is wearing her hat, Annie is holding hers in her hands. Tip Top House was near the summit of the mountain. A flag on a wooden pole is in the background. Caption at bottom of left panel: "Tip Top House, Mt. Washington, N.H." Inscription with names on verso: "Stereoscopic plate given by Mrs. Hale, 1939." Photo stained at top right, 20 x 21 cm mounted on cardboard 26 x 36 cm. This is probably an enlargement of that image. See HG2 Senter G5x7 16-19. |
