Seven snapshot photographs of members of the Friday Afternoon Club (F.A.C.) of Haverhill and others. Some of the photos are dated and / or captioned, some are not; most of the locations and people are not identified. The women are wearing dresses or skirts and blouses, some are wearing glasses; in the fourth photograph one woman is wearing a bathing suit. Photos approx. 7 x 12 cm. 1. June 8, 1934. Friday Afternoon Club, five women seated on the front steps of a house. Kate Pierce identified, far left. Same location as 3. 2. [June 8, 1934] Friday Afternoon Club, seven women seated on the front steps of a house, same location as 1. Kate Pierce on the left, back row. 4. "Berenice [sic] Dalcourt's 1934." Five women outside a small lake or riverside cottage, the woman on the left is Helen Jean Sargent, she is wearing a bathing suit and carrying a towel. Bernice is second from left. 5. [1934] Nine women in front of a tree near a lake or river. Four are seated, five are standing behind them. The first three women, left to right in bottom row are identified: Bernice Dalcourt, Helen Jean Sargent (wearing bathing suit), Hortense (Pierce) Sargent. In the back row, second woman from left and far right are identified as Helen Miller and Kate Pierce. Taken the same day as 4. Same location as 7. 6. [1934] Five women standing in front of a lake or river. Bernice Dalcourt is on the far right. The photo is blurry, they are near what looks like a stone fire grate. Taken the same day as 4. 7. [1934] Nine women in front of a tree near a lake or river. Four are seated, five are standing behind them. Bernice Dalcourt and Hortense (Pierce) Sargent are left and third from left. In the back row second from left and far right are Helen Miller and Kate Pierce. Taken the same day as 4, same location as 5. From an unidentified album with many Friday Afternoon Club group portraits, circa early 20th century - 1960s. One leaf of black paper (two pages), 18 x 28 cm, three photographs are mounted on one side, four on the verso side. Photos fading, yellowing. Album disbound, page sequence as found, original sequence may have been different. |
