Haverhill Public Library, Summer Street, Haverhill, 1945. View of front and left sides. Four story brick building. Facade on top story with inscription "Public 1874 Library." Lampposts by the sidewalk, tree on left corner. Stage Street on the left. House on the right. The library was built in 1874, designed by Josiah M. Littlefield after the first Boston Public Library on Boylston Street. It was torn down in 1969. Inscription on verso: "Gift - Homer Chase, photographed 1945 - Public Library - 1945." Photo is 13 x 15 cm mounted on cardboard 36 x 26 cm. |
