Description |
James C. How House, Pecker Street, Haverhill. The house number is not given. Two stories, clapboard, gable roof with dormer, portico. House partly obscured by trees; it is decorated over the porch and at second floor with flags and bunting. Fence at the street. Five women and four men are standing or seated in front of the house. The women are wearing long skirts and blouses and dresses, three with hats; the men in suits and ties, two in hats. The man second from right is wearing a striped jacket and straw hat. The man on the far right is African American; he is wearing a dark suit, light shirt and dark tie. The rest of the people are white. A small pale dog is in the street, facing away from the camera. The people are not identified in sequence but inscription on verso reads "The old Dr. J. C. How house / - afterwards / Dr. Towle's - on Winter St / Dr. Bryant's - 1910 / Pecker St." This is probably a late 19th century print. Photo is faded, 17 x 23 cm mounted on cardboard 26 x 36 cm. |
