First Universalist Church, 15 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill. View of front and right sides from Main Street. Soldiers' Monument in Monument Square in the foreground. Ivy covering part of building. Brick, two stories, cross gabled roof, tower and short steeple spire on the right, stained glass windows. In 1950 merged with First Parish to form Universalist Unitarian Church. Designed by architect J. Williams Beal, built 1892-1893, dedicated January 16, 1894. The monument, , a soldier in uniform, standing, holding a rifle with its stock on the ground, was dedicated in 1869. Original image probably early 20th century, photo by Walter Peabody Johnson. Photo is 10 x 16 cm mounted on cardboard 26 x 36 cm. |
