Description |
Haverhill 250th Anniversary Arch, Main Street, Haverhill, June or July 1890. The arch is over Main Street where it meets Bridge Street, spanning the Haverhill Bridge, Bradford visible in the background. The arch is decorated with American flags, banners and a round sign reading "Haverhill Settled 1640, Instituted a City 1870" with the seal in the center and the word "Pentucket." Several pedestrians. Trolley tracks in the street. Poster for Adam Forepaugh Circus in the background near the railroad tracks. Signs and storefronts legible, left to right: on the left side of the bridge: Haverhill Aqueduct Company; Dr. Lovejoy's Office; Haverhill and Groveland St. R[?]d; Waiting Room; on the right side of the bridge: Blake & Co. (plumbers); Iron & Gravel Roofing; Emerson's; White's Corner Drug Store (the sign facing the bridge is White's Corner Pharmacy, see HG8 Senter HPH 17-233E). Photographer may be W. Orin Tasker. |
