Description |
Kimball Tavern, 2 Salem Street, Bradford, Haverhill. View of front and left sides of house. House is three stories, clapboard, gable roof, with a two story square tower at front entrance, one story slant roof extension on the right. A portico has been added to the original house on the left side near the sign. The oldest part of the house (left front) is circa 1690. It acquired its present shape around the 1790s when it became a tavern. Bradford College acquired it in 1967 and restored it to its 1800 state. Marble's Antiques owned by J. Herbert Marble c. 1924-1945. A few parked cars; other houses on the left in the background and on the right. Inscription on verso: "Photo by Fred L. Noyes, 1938 / Jacob Kimball house, Salem St. Bradford." See glass negative HS1.1 Senter G5x7 6-16. Photo is 12 x 17 cm mounted on cardboard 26 x 36 cm. |
