A.L.A. Camp Library, Camp Jackson, South Carolina, 1918. One story clapboard building with gable roof and sign "ALA Library" on the roof. View of front and left sides, sign on the left "Camp Library." Librarian John G. Moulton is standing on the front steps, he and the unidentified seated man on the right are both in uniform. Moulton was Librarian, a civilian staff position, at Camp Jackson from September 1917 - June 1918. He was Librarian at Haverhill Public Library 1899-1921. A truck with the words "Army Library" painted on the side is parked on the left. Pine trees in front and more in the background. Inscription on verso: "A.L.A. Camp Library / Camp Jackson S.C. / J. G. Moulton Librarian - standing on step / Taken May 28 / 18 / by A. D. Thrasher / Columbia SC." Photo is 20 x 25 cm mounted on cardboard 26 x 36 cm. |
