Description |
Company F of the Eighth Regiment Infantry returning from four months of Mexican border service during the Mexican Border War, November 6, 1916. Photomechanical print of two photographs in greenish ink, from an unidentified publication. Print is two images on paper 26 x 18 cm mounted on cardboard 36 x 26 cm. Housed with Historical Photographic Print Collection. Top: The soldiers are gathered at the entrance to the Armory with spectators looking on from across the street. Caption: "Company F. on their return from the Border / At The Entrance To The Armory, Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill, Mass." Bottom: Soldiers in formation facing a crowd and a raised platform with American flags, where several men are standing, one of them Haverhill Mayor Albert L. Bartlett. Centre Congregational Church in the background, City Hall not visible. "City Council Reviewing Co. F. / Opposite City Hall, Main Street, On Their Return From The Border, Address by the Mayor."
