Title |
Hannah Duston's knife, Ezekiel Elliott Dustin, Dustin-Duston Family, 1933 |
Object Type |
Negative, Sheet Film |
Description |
Framed typed document signed by Ezekiel Elliott Dustin of Plymouth, New Hampshire, attesting to the authenticity of Hannah Duston's knife, also framed. Presented to the Dustin-Duston Family Association by Miles H. Dustin, Clifton H. Dustin, and Cecil C. Dustin (noted on frame) in 1933. The document, which is notarized and dated July 4, 1911, attests that Ezekiel was told by his father that he was the great great grandson of Hannah Duston (spelled Dustin in the document). His grandfather claimed the knife, the blade of which is framed with the document. It was the knife Hannah Duston used to scalp the Abenaki Indians she killed in her escape from captivity in New Hampshire. See also HG2 Senter HPH 4-50A. |
