Massachusetts Tercentenary Parade, floats, Haverhill, 1930. Two photomechanical prints of photographs, probably from the Haverhill Gazette, mounted together on cardboard 26 x 36 cm. Housed with Historical Photographic Print Collection. 1. Haverhill Gas Company float, facing right, with sign on front "Do It Better with Gas," and sign on the side "Haverhill Gas Company / 77 Years of Faithful Service / 1853 / 1930." The float has a model of Haverhill buildings and a large gas tank. Caption: "Haverhill Gas Co. float, one of the outstanding floats in the business division." 9 x 11 cm. 2. Haverhill Electric Company float, facing left, with lettering "18[illegible] 1930," "Haverhill Electric Company. The front has two curved prow like structures and the rear has a large horizontal cylinder with the letter T in a circle. Caption: "Prize-winning float of the Haverhill Electric Co., the largest float in the parade." 7 x 15 cm. |
