Four steam pumper fire engines, with smoke streaming from their smokestacks, on a dock area by the Merrimack River at Water Street, Haverhill; original image By George E. Dodge, 1907, and shows five engines. No water is being sprayed; there is a large hose for each machine submerged in the river, and the boilers are in use. Haverhill Fire Department firefighters in helmets and onlookers are gathered around the engines. Demonstration, without a fire. Business signs, left to right: Pentucket Laundry, Murray & Dugdale, Westcott & Shannon.
