Description |
Parade for 8th Regiment, Infantry, Company F, Haverhill, 1898. Crowd in front of City Hall. Men gathered on the steps of City Hall, one is Mayor Daniel S. Chase, in dark cape and hat, reading from a book or papers. The soldiers are mostly obscured on the right. Inscription on verso: "Taken by Lot F. McNamara / Militia leaving at time of Spanish-American war." Pasted to verso is later printed caption: "Farewell Address - Mayor Daniel S. Chase, surrounded by citizens gathered before City Hall to see the men of Company F, 8th Regiment, Massachusetts Volunteer Militia, off to camp at South Framingham, reads a farewell address. The date was May 5, 1898." Photo is 13 x 18 cm mounted on cardboard 26 x 36 cm. |
