Haverhill 250th Anniversary, LeBosquets, eight children in colonial costume for a dance, 1890. They look middle school age or a little younger. Inscription on verso: "Colonial Dance 1890 Celebration? / see newspaper account in 250th Celebration. / Theodore LeBosquet / Helen LeBosquet front left. / Susannah LeBosquet McDonald [may be the donor, not noted]." Studio portrait, two boys and two girls standing in the rear, a boy in the center seated in a chair, a boy kneeling to the left, and two girls seated on either side of the boy in the chair (the girl on the left is Helen LeBosquet). A painted backdrop is in the background. It is not indicated which boy is Theodore, he may be the boy in the chair. The boys are wearing white powdered wigs and 17th century colonial costumes with breeches and stockings. The girls also are wearing white powdered wigs, and colonial costumes with flowered lace trimmed bodices over full pale skirts. Photographer's studio printed below: "Anderson / Haverhill, Mass." Photo faded, slightly bowed. Photo is 20 x 16 cm mounted on card 22 x 17 cm. |
