John James Audubon's "Birds of America" folio, opened to the American Crow illustration, on display at Haverhill Public Library, 1948. The crow is in the branches of a black walnut tree. The book is displayed on an inlaid wood cabinet. Bookshelves with books in the background. Inscription on verso: "Photo by Clarkson T. [sic] Bayley, photographer with Western Electric Co - 1948 / Cabinet sold $210 at Library auction 1969 / The Audubon 'Birds of America' elephant folio, / & Daniel Webster cabinet in which it is kept / In Art Room of Public Library." Photo is 19 x 24 cm mounted on cardboard 25 x 36 cm. |
