Description |
Barefoot Boy Statue, Haverhill Public Library, Main Street, Haverhill. The bronze statue, by sculptor Tita Hupp, represents the boy in John Greenleaf Whittier's poem The Barefoot Boy. A boy is seated on a boulder in the library's fountain pool. His hat is beside him and he is holding a stick. Behind him on a lower rock are two squirrels gathered around an open sack with an apple in it. The frog piece of the sculpture is not visible. It was dedicated October 28, 1995, to "those of the class who served and died in World War II and in fond memory of the days of our youth and our Haverhill heritage." Plants, bookshelves and an unidentified man in the background. Late 20th or early 21st century photo. |
