Description |
Kendall Tavern, Winter Street at the corner of Pleasant Street, Haverhill. Clapboard, three stories, gambrel roof. Sign in the rear for Roofing / W. B. Yeaton Real Estate; storefront at 20 Winter Street for Geo. H. Hill, florist. Pleasant Street on the left. View of front and left sides. Inscription with print in file: "Formerly at White's Corner, removed to Winter Street cr. Pleasant when Peter Osgood built his Osgood Block in 1821. There has been some doubt about this - but it is more likely than the alternative claim that Kendalls was on Washington cr. Essex Street later called 'Chase's Tavern'." Photo by George W. W. Bartlett, probably early 20th century. See print HF3 Senter HPH 33-457A. |
