Four members of the 8th Regiment, Infantry, Company F, in their encampment, Chickamauga, Ga., 1898. The tent, with front flap open is behind the men. Two are standing, two are seated on rough wood stools, and their rifles with equipment are standing between the seated men. Trees in the background. Laundry or cloths are drying on the tent stake lines. Probably near or at Camp Thomas. Inscription on verso: "Photo by Gazette photographer" (probably refers to the reprint in the newspaper, this is a photographic print). Typed label: "Co. F. / Some members of Co. F. at Chickamauga, Ga., Spring or Summer of 1898. It shows the type of tent used there at the time. / Left to right" Rear - 1. Sgt. William J. West / 2. Wagoner William T. Lang / Front - 1. John P. Bartlett, Salem / 2. Corp. Milton A. Damon." Newspaper clipping, caption: "Chickamauga, Ga., camp scene - In the late Spring or early Summer of 1898, Sgt. William T. Lang, Haverhill, standing, right, had this picture taken with three other militia men at Chickamauga, where Company F went after leaving Framingham. The other three men are unidentified.
