8th Regiment, Infantry, Company F officers, veterans, 1898 and 1943. Three photomechanical prints, different sizes, mounted on cardboard 36 x 26 cm. Typed date: "HEG [Haverhill Evening Gazette] Aug. 19, 1943." Housed with Historical Photographic Print Collection. 1. Eight men, veterans of the 8th Regiment, Infantry, Company F, from the Spanish-American War. Three seated, five standing behind them. They are wearing suits. Printed caption: "Officers of Sgt. Fred Thomas Camp, USWV, which will observe its 50th anniversary tonight at the Elks home, Summer St. Seated, left to right: Jules J. Mercier, senior vice commander; John T. Conway, commander; and Charles H. Lynch, junior vice commander. Standing, Arthur M. Pingree, chaplain; John Weston, officer of the day; Frank Levesque, officer of the guard; William T. Lang, quartermaster; and Edward A. Howieson, trustee. William A. Wedge is adjutant." 12 x 16 cm. 2. Four members of Company F. Head and shoulders studio portraits. The men are in uniform. Captions: "Sgt. Fred Thomas ... camp named for him / Harry H. Short ... as he looked in 1898 / Sgt. William O. Priest ... as he looked in 1898 / Sgt. William T. Lang ... as he looked in 1898." 17 x 10 cm. 3. Four soldiers from Company F standing in front of a tent, Chickamauga, Georgia. Caption: "Company F Boys of 1898 - Four members of Company F had their pictures taken while they were out on maneuvers at Chicamauga Park, Ga., back in 1898. The center two in the group are the only ones in the photo who are still living. They are, left to right: Peter N. LaFrie, 53 Lovejoy street, Bradford, employed at the Collins and Dunn Motor Co., and Morris Wentworth, 833 Main street, who is employed at the Merrimack Ice Co." 12 x 11 cm. |
