Coburn-Day House, 126-128 Summer Street, Haverhill. Three stories, brick, iron balconette above the two entrance doors; two chimneys. One set of steps leads to the sidewalk. Snow on the ground. Inscription with similar print in file: "Built by Augustus M. (1815-1879) & Simeon M. Coburn (1811-?) Shoe [manufacturers]. Augustus M. married to Harriet Scott Hale sister of E. J. M. Hale. ... When Augustus Coburn moved to Quincy, Illinois c. 1866 house purchased by George W. Day & Luther Day (Day Bros. - Washington Sq.)" and also known as the George & Luther Day House. Inscription on slide mount: "Greek Revival - Double / Brick House - circa 1830." Date on slide: Feb 76, number 2. |
