Eben Bowley House, 71 Emerson Street, Haverhill, corner of Oak Street. Three stories, clapboard with quoins at corners, cross gabled roof, front porch, graded yard with stone retaining wall. View of front and right sides. Trees near the sidewalk. Two story clapboard building in the background. Another house in the background on the left. Inscription on verso: "G. W. W. Bartlett / Bowley house (Frank Russ) / Emerson St. / Afterwards became property of Salvation Army and barn was made into chapel about 1920." Barn is the two story building on the right in the background; this image probably early 20th century. Another print on file has an inscription stating it was also known as the Edwin Bowley House; built in 1855. Photo is 12 x 17 cm mounted on cardboard 26 x 36 cm. |
