First Baptist Church, interior, Merrimack Street, Haverhill. View from rear showing pews in foreground, altar, small round stained glass window. On the left on the wall is the date 1817 and on the right the date 1876. What looks like a ladder is behind the altar reaching the stained glass window; on the left is a cross and on the right is an anchor, and other symbols. The two banners on the left and right are illegible, image faded. A red and white sticker or label at upper right corner reads "1887." The church was demolished in 1883. Inscription on verso: "Interior of First Baptist Ch. when it stood on Merrimack St." Photo is 8 x 8 cm mounted on pink paper 11 x 11 cm. |
