Caleb Dustin Hunking House, 160 Main Street, Haverhill; wood engraving illustration. Three stories, clapboard, cross gabled roof, two story square tower at the cross gabled section, above the portico and small front porch, two story extension and carriage house in the rear. View of front and left sides. Caption at bottom: "Estate of the late C. D. Hunking." Hunking was a shoe manufacturer, State Senator and Justice of the Peace. In bottom right corner: "J. S. Conant Co. Boston." Engraving (facing p. 112) from "Haverhill Massachusetts an Industrial and Commercial Center," published by the Board of Trade, printed in Haverhill by Chase Brothers, 1889. The house originally stood at 111 Merrimack Street, moved to this location in 1871. Formerly no. 72 Main Street. Print is 11 x 11 cm mounted on cardboard 13 x 13 cm. Housed with Historical Photographic Print Collection. |
