A.L.A. Camp Library, Camp Jackson, South Carolina, 1918. Four snapshot photographs, the largest 15 x 9 cm, mounted together on cardboard 36 x 26 cm. Inscription on verso: "John G. Moulton with A.L.A. at Camp Jackson, 1918." There are no people in the photos, Moulton may have taken these himself. Moulton was Librarian, a civilian staff position, at Camp Jackson from September 1917 - June 1918. He was Librarian at Haverhill Public Library 1899-1921. 1. One story clapboard building with gable roof and sign "ALA Library" on the roof. View of front and left sides. Pine trees in front and more in the background. 2. View from farther back with a gazebo on the left in the foreground. 3. View of front of Library with trees in the foreground. 4. Interior of Library, chairs and tables in the foreground, bookshelves with books on the left, desk in the center. Flowering branches on desk counter and on rafters; exposed beam ceiling with timber pillars. |
