Description |
Bass Point, Nahant. Twenty-one men in three rows: three seated on the ground, front row; eight seated in middle row on a rock or on bench; ten standing in back row. a structure behind them looks like a pavilion. They are wearing suits, and some are holding hats. Most have mustaches, three have beards and mustaches. Written on emulsion (of negative) at bottom: "Bass Point, / Nahant / Aug. 29, 1894" (or possibly "1884"). Inscription on verso: "Bass Point / Nahant / probably a group of lumber merchants / Belonged to Chas. Croy of D. D. Chase Lumber Co. - seated left front [on ground] - photo circa 1890 [sic] / Oliver or Levi Taylor in centre [row, fourth from left] with white beard." Another structure in the background on the left, tent in the background on the right. Print faded, some water damage on the right. Photo is 13 x 20 cm mounted on card 14 x 22 cm. |
