Four snapshot photographs of women, group portraits. They are wearing dresses or long skirts with blouses. They are standing on the porch of, or in front of a house, three stories with basement, shingle, raised front porch, gambrel-saltbox roof with dormers. The house is surrounded by trees. The women and location are not identified; the women are probably members of the Friday Afternoon Club of Haverhill. Images probably early 20th century. The photos are 8 x 11 cm. 1. Fourteen women standing on a porch of an unidentified house. 2. Fourteen women standing and seated in front of a house. 3. Fifteen women lined up closely facing right, with their hands on the shoulders of the woman in front of them, except for the leader. House in the background. 4. Thirteen women; four women are standing, and nine women are lying on the grass in front, facing the camera. House in the background. From an unidentified album with many Friday Afternoon Club group portraits, circa early 20th century - 1960s. One leaf of black paper (two pages), 18 x 28 cm, four photographs mounted on one side, the verso side blank. Photos are sepia toned, yellowing. Album disbound, page sequence as found, original sequence may have been different. |
