Description |
Marsh-Brickett-Dow House, 687 Main Street, Haverhill. Formerly 403 Main Street. Three stories, clapboard, hip roof, dormer, portico and porch at front entrance, two story extension added to the front, former two story extension in the rear not visible. Columns and a roof provide a porte cochere on the right side of the addition. Large two story carriage house in the rear on the right. View of front and right sides. An unpaved road is on the right. Other houses are in the background on this road. Three children, a boy and two girls, are standing near the front walk. They are wearing coats and hats; they are not identified. A streetlamp is on the corner, and there are trees in the yard. Inscription with print in file: "After renovations - sun porch and porte cochere made for Mrs. [Minnie?] Moses [H.] Dow." Inscription with similar print in file: "Built 1882 for Moses Marsh on 16 acre lot extending to Marsh Ave. & North Ave. Later divided into house lots." Another print inscription states it was later 689 Main Street. Original house built by E. R. Quimby. Photo circa 1916. |
