Shaw-Nichols House / Moses Nichols House, doorway, 2 Summer Street, Haverhill. Door with four panels, and what looks like stained or leaded glass sidelights and arched light above. Steps leading up to the door. Label on verso with inscription: "Old Doorway (Early 19th Cent.) / Moses Nichols House, Haverhill / Formerly on site of new Haverhill High School." Inscription below: "Nichols house / Summer Street." Photo possibly by Linwood O. Towne. Another image of this house in our collection identifies it as the First Parish Parsonage or Shaw-Nichols House, built for Rev. John Shaw in 1773, later occupied by Rev. Abiel Abbott, sold to Moses Nichols in 1831. Photo is 9 x 6 cm mounted on cardboard 18 x 12 cm. |
