Gardner House, 1 Windsor Street at Arlington Street, Haverhill. Built in 1887-88 for Sylvanus Porter Gardner, shoe manufacturer, by Wheeler & Northend of Lynn. View of front and right sides, trees partially obscuring view. This ornate three story Highlands Queen Anne mansion has a cross gabled hip roof, turret with bell roof, decorative shingle patterns, porticos on front and right sides, another house on the left. It had interior frescoes by L. Haverstrach & Son, a Mexican onyx fireplace in the parlor, a library finished in black birch, and a three tiered bronze chandelier in the octagonal reception hall.
