Wadleigh was the son of Levi C. Wadleigh and brother of Levi C. Wadleigh Jr. After his father, he ran the shoe manufacturing business L. C. Wadleigh & Sons in Haverhill. He was also Director of the Haverhill National Bank. Facsimile signature below: "G. C. Wadleigh." Printed at bottom: "American Historical Socy." and "Steel Engraving by M. J. Conn, N.Y."
