Description |
Fireman's Monument, Hilldale Cemetery, Haverhill. A crowd of men and women and a few children is standing surrounding the statue. Five men in suits are standing next to the statue, fwith flowers in wreaths atthe base. They are not identified. A line of firefighters in uniform are standing behind the large tree in the center. Inscription on verso: "Purchased Sept. 11, 1906 / Francis A. Lucia." Inscription on verso of a similar photo: "Firemen's Memorial Sunday / Year of 1904? 1905? 1906? Hilldale Cemetery / Francis A. Lucia." Not indicated if Lucia is the photographer or the former owner. Dedicated May 30, 1889. Designed by Calvin H. Weeks; carved at Cararra, Italy. Fireman holding a hose, in "fire laddie" position with his feet holding the hose in place. Dedication inscription on plaque, with "H. F. D." at bottom. Later moved to Linwood Cemetery.
